"The Little Church That Could"

Guest preacher, Bethany Guy, shared about her experiences as an intern for Disciples Home Missions in Galveston this summer. Her jobs were related to the ongoing hurricane recovery effort there.
She shared about how especially moving it was to her to see the people of Second Christian Church. This church had lost the use of their building, and many members had been forced to move out of their damaged homes and even out of the Galveston area. But instead of complaining about their dwindling congregation and their borrowed worship location, this congregation praised God for all He had done in their lives.
We read from Psalm 30:4, 11-12 - a psalm of thanksgiving.
We prayed to be a thankful people.
We sang a song of praise that Bethany learned from Second Christian Church, "Thank You, Lord."
We celebrated communion at the table of forgiveness and new life.
