"Here's Your Sign"

Here's an instant replay of what happened in worship:
- We remembered that John calls the miraculous things that Jesus does "signs." Abby Olson shared how that reminded her of a catch phrase from comedian Bill Engvall - "Here's your sign!"
- We saw a drama about a mother and daughter sitting at breakfast on a Sunday morning, debating whether or not to go to church. They wished that there was some proof that God existed. As they talk about news reports, scientific discoveries, and the miracle of babies, images flash on the screen with God saying to them, "Here's your sign." God was trying to show them that He is real, and He loves them.
- We watched a ribbon dance by Alex Olson to the song, "I Can Only Imagine". At the end of the dance, we discovered it was a dream, but in that dream, she was free to dance with God.
- We read the Scripture John 21:1-14 where Jesus appeared to the disciples as they tried to fish on the sea of Galilee. After a frustrating night without any fish, Jesus calls to them from the shore. He knows their nets are empty, they are hungry and on the verge of giving up. He tells them to throw their nets on the other side, and they bring up 153 large fish. When they get to shore, they discover that Jesus had prepared breakfast for them.
- We thought about how the disciples were just going about their day-to-day lives, experiencing frustration with their empty net. But suddenly the Divine breaks into their day, Jesus offers help, and everything changes. More importantly, Jesus wants them to sit, eat and talk with him. He wants the same for us, too.
- We prayed for eyes of faith that will see Jesus standing before us and ears that will hear his voice calling to us.
- At the communion table, we realized that if we're looking for a sign of God's love for us, we need look no further than the bread and cup - "Here's your sign." We shared the meal together with Jesus.
