"Where Love Began"
Pastor Laura Guy
August 19, 2007
Here's an instant replay of what happened in worship:
- We read Gen. 2:18, 21-25, going all the way back to the beginning, where love began.
- We saw that the story of Adam and Eve is our story. When God created Eve to be a helper, Adam said that she was "Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh." He loved her as he loved his own body. The feeling was mutual. It was the perfect relationship. This was what God intended.
- We discovered that after they ate the fruit and sinfulness entered the world, their relationship with God and their relationship to each other was strained. In fact, Adam couldn't sell out Eve fast enough when God caught him with fruit juice on his mouth!
- We wondered if our marriages are more like the way God intended, loving each other as we love our selves, or if they are more like the strained relationship after the fall, when we're looking out for Number One.
- We prayed that God would help us find our way to love the way He intended.
- Katrina Stone sang a song she wrote for her husband, "I'm Not Whole."
- We shared communion around the table of love while Katrina Stone sang "Welcome."
